Dreams vs Everyone

Jhugli jhugli jhul jhula, jhughli jhughli jhus! — Sapne vs Everyone, TVF Originals

I recently saw a series on YouTube by TVF called Sapne vs. Everyone, which means Dreams vs. Everyone. The series is about two boys with different thought processes, backgrounds, and aspirations who fight for one thing against all odds — their dreams. How they go through all the odds, go against a lot of people and society, and pave the way to protect their aspirations. The dialogues are excellent, the poetry is relatable, and the overall plot is what we needed. The series gave us the reality check that we never knew we needed. At least, it did for me.

You can watch the series HERE, to watch this series. The series is in hindi but has english subtitles, just in case. Sapne vs Everyone is relatable, beautiful, and sad at the same time.

But why am I talking about a YouTube series? Well, this series has kept me thinking for the past few days. We all have a dream that most of us give up as we grow up. We are either forced by parents or societies or situations. We never fight for what we want and fall prey to the miseries of life.

Dreams = Aspirations

What do we mean by Dream?

I really do not agree with the philosophical definition of dreams that has been going around the world. And by dreams, I do not mean the images or events that happen in our subconscious minds; I mean the aspirations, goals, and ambitions that we had since childhood. My definition of a dream is — An event or object that is difficult or sometimes next to impossible to achieve. That’s what dreams are. And that’s why most of us need to FIGHT to achieve it.

Dreams and aspirations could be different for each individual. For example, buying a digital camera could be achievable by a wealthy person, but it could be a dream for someone who is financially unstable. A person’s dream of going on a foreign trip could be achievable by some people. But does that mean they are worthy of being demotivated? NO

What makes dreams difficult?

A lot of things make our dreams difficult. Society, family, circumstances, financial commitments, and sometimes just ourselves. Most middle-class boys would never be allowed to pursue their dreams of entering the entertainment or sports industry. Parents would never want their children to struggle, and some of them would not support them because they know it won’t be easy to get paid in such an industry in the initial days. Some parents would question the same because they want their children to take financial responsibility for their family. Reasons could be different, and to be true, not a single reason can be termed illogical or invalid.

There could be thousands of factors coming in between your success and dreams. You need that one reason, one solid, big motivating reason, not to give up.

But how many of us choose to fight against the odds? A HANDFUL!

My Dreams

I have never been a very challenging kid since childhood. Like most of us, I first wanted to be a space scientist, which, even as a grown-up, I knew was impossible for me (I was never a great student or intelligent one). A lot of professions that I wanted to take up followed, like a LOTT. But these were never dreams that I wanted to achieve. My dreams were different from the other kids I knew.

I wanted to have a stable career, I wanted to earn a lot, I tried to make my parents proud, I wanted to own a digital camera, I wanted to land up in some foreign country for a job, I wanted to roam around the world and my country. Actually, I WANT TO ACHIEVE THESE EVEN TODAY.

These are my dreams. Some may term these as baseless ambitions, but it is what it is. I am a different individual. My dreams have taken shape with reference to the way I grew up, the environment I have lived in, and the people I have come across.

I do not want to prove anything to anyone, but it is for me. For me to be happy going forward, for me to stand in front of a mirror, smile, and say — YES, YOU DID IT! It’s solely for me.

Why did I write this?

The series I discussed at the beginning of the blog was the motivation. The series has shown every point and instance that I thought was wrong at some point in my life. But is it wrong to modify the truth a bit to be successful? No. If it isn’t hurting anyone. It’s alright. If you know you deserve something, don’t let someone else stomp upon you and get it. Snatch if needed. Fight for what is yours. Fight for your dreams. Protect it from people who don’t know you and who don’t understand you. Protect it from the inner demon of yours. Spread your wings and fly. Let the world see that you are happy. Your dream could be as simple as owning an Armani suit; make it happen.

Be the best version of yourself.

Conclusion

While you achieve your dreams, be the person who becomes the light to others’ darkness, too. Be the person you want to have in your life. Because in the end, if you are hurting someone unnecessarily, even when they didn’t deserve to be, you would not be happy. You may become the most successful version of yourself, but if your success results from hurting the right and innocent people, YOU ARE NOT YOUR BEST VERSION.

So, achieve your dreams, help others achieve theirs, and be the best version of yourself! Be Happy!
