How I Found the Love of my Life

I graduated in 2016 and by then I got an offer 2months prior to my final semester. I joined a startup, Medimojo. At that time, the company was using PHP as the backend language, and I was having no experience in PHP. I made up my mind & grasped some of the basics of PHP. I was pretty good at front-end but in a startup where the resources are very limited, I was bound to work as a Full-stack developer. During the first few months, I somehow managed with PHP.
I was on leave to attend my final semester exams. When I returned, back to work, I was terrified after hearing from our Technology Head that from now on we will be shifting from PHP to NodeJS in order to build a scalable and robust product.
I was very tensed and baffled as I had no clue what NodeJS is. With a team of just 2 developers, me and one of my Senior, Prashant, nobody was there to handhold me and walk through the Technology. Prashant was also a newbie to NodeJS at that time. He himself had no clue what to do, as he had a lot of workloads plus he had to move the product to NodeJS at the same time.

I was so very disappointed with my skills that one morning I decided to quit the job. I spoke to my founder that I will be quitting the job. Thanks to Vikas, he convinced me to retain and asked Prashant to give tasks matching my skill set. Prashant planned the tasks accordingly and gave me the front-end stuff to do. I continued for the next 6months.
It was the new year time. To be exact, 4th of January, the work pressure was a bit less.. Prashant called me and said, “let’s write one function in NodeJS together”. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but then I took it as an opportunity to know whether I can ever code in NodeJS or not. The first function we wrote was to upload an image for a users profile and fetch it back. BAMM!! It was damn good.. it felt like it was in me. I know how to “Code in Node”.. he continued giving small tasks and I kept on writing those functions (Of course I asked a hell lot of questions, lot of silly ones though 😉.. ). But he patiently guided me for the next 5 days. Since then, its been almost 2yrs. I’m in serious love with NodeJS.
Now it just takes me exact 30minutes to make someone build a simple “Hello World!” NodeJS application with Database connection and stuff.
This is how I found my love. NodeJS ❤️.

Its always a moment of fear you have to overcome in order to achieve any impossible task and definitely someone to help you do it.
